Raising Spiritually and Emotionally Intelligent Childrenಮಾದರಿ
Maintain a Covenant Relationship With God
It is more challenging to support our children's emotional and spiritual development if we have inherited negative parenting patterns or generational curses. Therefore, we must address foundational issues and enter into a covenant relationship with God alongside our children.
In Genesis 17:9-14 (KJV), we see the covenant of circumcision being established between God and Abraham. In Genesis 17:24-25, Abraham circumcised himself at age 99 and his son, Ishmael, at age 13. Later in Genesis 21:4, Abraham circumcised Isaac. Genesis 21:4 (AMP) says, “So Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, just as God had commanded him.”
Abraham intentionally brought his children into a covenant relationship with God, setting a spiritual foundation for his children. By circumcising his children, Abraham dissociated them from the curse of idolatry and helped them establish a healthy spiritual foundation. Abraham was a spiritually intelligent father. He used the intel God gave him to break the curse of idolatry in his family. His spiritual priesthood, leadership, and sensitivity secured the destiny of his children.
During circumcision, there is shedding of blood, which was the strategy God chose to use to establish a covenant with Abraham. Colossians 2:11 (AMP) says, “In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature]” (Also see Jeremiah 4:4; Romans 2:29). Through the blood of Jesus, we enter into covenant with God, and we can use the power in the blood of Jesus to daily enforce our victory over generational curses and all manner of attacks against the wellbeing of our children.
Let’s maintain a covenant relationship with God, teach our children about God, and grow in the revelation of the blood of Jesus to keep our family free from generational curses. Today, I invite you to study and meditate on today's Scripture readings which focus on the blood of Jesus.
