People Get Ready...ಮಾದರಿ
The Fields are Ready
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matt. 9:37-38 NIV).
I can remember standing in the middle of an empty field in Peru, with tents pitched high and wide to form a pop-up medical clinic. Families traveled miles by foot and waited patiently for hours in the sun to see a doctor and receive life-changing medical treatment. While locals waited in line, volunteers would pray with individuals for supernatural healing and often see miracles. Hundreds of lives were changed in one day because someone was willing to show a city that felt forgotten how much God truly loved them. Yet, there simply were not enough doctors and not enough time in the day to meet every need.
Throughout the Gospels, we see how Jesus devoted His life to declaring the Good News, ushering in the kingdom of God on earth to anyone willing to listen (Luke 4:43). He went through towns and villages showing compassion to those who were desperate for one touch from a Savior, healing every sickness and disease (Matt. 9:35-36). As much joy as Jesus felt for every lost soul that He reached, He felt a burden for every lost one that had not been found. Jesus knew He would need to send out His disciples to reach everyone (Luke 9:1-2). He would need more people like me and you.
The harvest is plentiful; the fields are ready. Our world desperately needs a glimpse of hope found in Jesus, but the workers are few. Are you willing to go? Are you willing to devote your time, energy, and resources to bringing the kingdom of God to the hopeless, oppressed, and forgotten? All it takes is a simple “yes” to follow the example of Jesus. It will require a lifetime of dying to selfish desires, but it will be the most beautiful adventure you could ever imagine.
About this Plan
The call to follow Jesus and make disciples is not an easy one, but it is always an adventure. Spend the next five days being challenged by the nature of Jesus to live a life on mission. We have received the commission and the need is great, so people, get ready…
