Stand in Confidence: From Sinking in Insecurity to Rising in Your God-Given Identity

DAY 2 OF 5

Clarity—Embrace Your Identity

Clarity is the first component of confidence. The more clarity you have about who you are, why you’re here, and what you’re designed to do, the more confident you’ll be. As you embrace your identity in Christ and define your God-given design, you’ll develop the clarity to move forward in confidence.

Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Read that again.

Let it sink in.

Jesus died for us BEFORE we loved Him BEFORE we devoted our lives to Him BEFORE we did anything to earn His love. His love for us always has been and always will be unconditional.

Here’s what you need to hold on to: We’re not chosen because of what we have done. We’re chosen because of what Christ has done.

First John 4:9 says, “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.”

This. Is. Love! Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. This Scripture says that God laid it all on the line for us. Knowing that most would reject Him, He made the first move anyway. And He didn’t do it with words. He did it with action.

Worldly confidence rests upon things that can be stripped away from us, but through Christ, we can be confident that this foundation of love won’t be ripped from underneath us whenever we make mistakes. We never earned the love, to begin with, so we never have to fear losing it.

We no longer have to strive to find our identity in how well we perform or are perfect. We don’t have to find our worthiness in our appearance, our abilities, or our social status.

We are pursued by love.

And because God pursues us, we can simply respond. Our acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is our very acceptance of love itself. When we accept this love, we become God’s beloved. The bride of Christ. We don’t respond to any other name that He hasn’t given us.

Through Christ, we will forever be identified by God’s love.

What came to mind when you read Romans 5:8? Your acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is your very acceptance of love itself.

About this Plan

Stand in Confidence: From Sinking in Insecurity to Rising in Your God-Given Identity

Culture, church, and life have sold us narratives about who we’re supposed to be as women. We feel driven to people-please, downplay, and perform. Author and ministry leader Amanda Pittman explains how we can rewrite our damaging self-beliefs with the truth about our God-given identity by establishing God-shaped confidence. With new perspectives and focus, we will stand confidently upon the finished work of Jesus and live boldly in our callings.
