Real Hope: Back to Basics - Heaven & Earthಮಾದರಿ
The Intersection Of Heaven And Earth
In Genesis, we read that God created the heavens and the earth. These two elements were separate yet intersected at points. Humanity’s story is found at such an intersecting point – the garden of Eden, a high place where rivers flowed from and watered the earth. An elevated place where heaven and earth co-existed, heavenly beings and earthly beings cohabitated, and even where God Himself walked during the cool of the day. What a special place! And God made man and woman His representatives, charged with taking care of the earth and ruling over it as He would. This entire setup was deemed to be good, so very good!
Today’s world seems so far from Eden, with so much mess and brokenness, and people hurting themselves, others, and the earth they live in. How far have we fallen!
In our lives also are moments of order, beauty, and intimacy, contrasted with moments of disorder, ugliness, and brokenness. Our desire is for Eden – a place of intimacy with God and others, yet our realities can seem so different. How do we reconcile such a dichotomy? First, look for the moments in today’s world where heaven and earth intersect. If you look in the right places, with the right heart, you’re bound to find yourself in one. Second, look forward to the day when all of the earth will look like heaven – the new earth with no pain or suffering (Rev. 21:4).
Heaven and its promises are closer than we realize at times.
