Rooted in God's Presence

DAY 5 OF 5

What will your spiritual legacy be? Where will your loyalty lie? What will be your priorities for your brief days on the earth? Do you want to meet Jesus knowing that you did just enough to get by? Or do you want to meet Him knowing that you gave Him all you had, that you did everything you could to grow closer to Him, to bring more people into His kingdom, and to strengthen His church?

I do not want Him to see me on that day and say, “Oh. It’s you.” I want Him to greet me with a smile and say, “Welcome! And well done!”

You and you alone will determine how the Lord greets you on that day. You will not be accompanied by your parents or your spouse. Your small group leader will not be there. Neither will your pastor. This will be a conversation between you and the Lord, and all will be brought into the light—even the deepest desires and motives of your heart.

This conversation will be based on more than your recitation of the sinner’s prayer. It will be based on the decisions that you make today, tomorrow, and every day until the Lord returns. Daily choices have eternal consequences; this is the message of Scripture.

My prayer is that you will live as if you will meet Jesus tomorrow. I hope you will feel that kind of urgency about your relationship with Him. I hope you will give Him your very best and hold nothing back. I hope you will begin to invite God into your calendar and daily schedule. And when you feel Him inviting you to join Him in His kingdom purposes, I hope you will say yes and pursue them with everything you have.

Prayer

Lord, I give You my heart and everything I have. Please help me draw near to You, and please use me to strengthen Your church. Amen.
