Gifted to Serve

DAY 4 OF 25

Paul taught that it was wrong for the Corinthian church to compare Paul, Apollos, and Peter. To debate and decide which man should be followed meant they were not focused on and following God. What then is the correct way to view Christian leaders and ourselves? John Stott said, “The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love . . . Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.” Paul wanted the Corinthian church to understand that a leader was a person who served under God’s authority.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might” (Ephesians 6:10).
