Faithful: 3 Scriptures to Pray Over Your Husbandಮಾದರಿ
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)
As a wife, I am thankful to be the weaker vessel because I see weaker vessels as delicate vessels needing proper and intentional care. 1 Peter 3:7 is another proof that the Bible is not misogynistic. I imagine God telling husbands, “Don't forget I am your wife’s father. Treat my daughter with care.”
The Amplified Version of 1 Peter 3:7 expounds on the scripture. It says, In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective.
The Bible requires that husbands study and honor their wives and see them as fellow children of God. God calls husbands to a high standard, and God alone can empower them to do his will. The enemy knows unity in the home is essential for effective prayer. Hence, he works aggressively to ensure spouses live in strife, bitterness, malice, and all fleshly works that hinder prayers. It is a dangerous thing to have one’s prayers hindered.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, empower my husband to do life with me in knowledge and understanding. By your Spirit, teach my husband how to honor me and treat me like you want him to treat me. Give my husband unusual grace to honor our marriage, guarding his eyes, lips, and heart. Your Word says you are the only one who can give us the desire and ability to do your good pleasure. Give my husband the willingness and strength to honor our marriage with his words and actions. I ask all these in the name of Jesus.
