The Importance of Gospel Communityಮಾದರಿ
Hopefully, by now, you see the benefit of being in community with fellow believers. But perhaps you are wondering what that actually looks like?
It’s been my experience that when I want to step outside of my comfort zone to be in community with others, the enemy tries to plant seeds of self-doubt. For example, I’ll tell myself that maybe she’s too busy to meet for coffee or maybe she already has enough friends.
Those are lies from the enemy himself.
Do it anyway. Do it scared. Chances are that she’s feeling the same exact thing about you!
How do we do this practically in our day-to-day lives?
1. Take a casserole to a sick neighbor or a new mom.
2. Join a small group or invite a few friends over and open your Bibles together.
3. Send a note or card to those on your church’s prayer concern list.
4. Invite a friend to meet you for coffee and just listen.
5. Offer to watch a young family's kids so they can have a date night.
6. Write an encouraging note on a mirror for someone in your family using a dry erase marker.
7. Speak truth into a friend by telling her all of the unique and special ways God has gifted her.
8. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you creative new ways to serve those around you.
There are specific people God has placed in our city, neighborhood, church, and home who are desperate for us to point them to Jesus.
There is something so powerful about stepping outside of our comfort zones and stepping into the lives of those around us. There is something so powerful when we come together, share a meal (or cup of coffee!), open our Bibles, pray, or even just give a simple smile.
Re-read today’s Scripture:
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20
The “something so powerful” isn’t actually a thing at all, but Someone. When we gather in His name, Jesus is there.
Dear God, give us creative ways to spur others on today. Give us courage to reach out to someone who is hurting. Connect us with those who need Your love. And may You be glorified in it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
She Works His Way is a discipleship community for women who love Jesus. Joining the SWHW network gets you access to additional practical discipleship tools to grow in your love for Jesus. Your support helps us get this important message into the hands of as many women as possible.
