God’s Got This: Praying Over The Modern Orphan

DAY 4 OF 5

"God Is Both Whole and Holy"

As you have spent the last few days contemplating about and praying over the Modern Orphan, I’m sure you have pondered the following question at some level: If God is a good God, then why does He allow children to face life without parents standing up for them? Why does He allow tragic circumstances to creep into the lives of Vulnerable Children? I get it, I do.

In real ways. I began life in an orphanage. I was moved into foster care in a third world country and was finally adopted into America. As you know from the previous day's reading, He sees it all. And He uses it all, for in God’s economy nothing is wasted: no experience, no hardship, no joy, and no love. It’s all used for our good and for His glory.

When the hard things that some Modern Orphans experience disrupt the comfort of our ignorance, we need to remember that the world we live in is broken. God is not broken, though. God is both whole and Holy. He is a good Father. The world shouts lies, but God speaks truth.

Hard stuff happens. In your world, in your country, and even in your home, and your heart has to process it. It’s a crossroads (as in the actual cross). You have a few questions to consider. Do you sincerely believe that God can and will bring beauty from ashes? He did this through Jesus’ crucifixion; surely He can do it in your life. Do you really believe that He is working His good purpose out every day and in all circumstances? He promises to do this in Romans 8:28.

I hope that you can say yes to these two questions. It is up to us as His church to invite Him into the messy circumstances that impact children worldwide. He is waiting for us to ask. Our prayers are welcomed into His throne room. He wants His church to care for His children as deeply as He does. And one way we can do that is to wholly trust our Holy God, especially with all of the circumstances facing His children, and to know that Romans 8:28 was true yesterday and today, and it will still be true tomorrow.
