Testify - Boldness in the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth sent by the Father to testify about Jesus. Verse 27 says that we too must testify. If we look at the life of Peter, he wanted to stand by Jesus at all times. He knew Jesus loved him and he wanted to reciprocate that. But when he depended on his own strength to do that, we see it didn’t work that great. In fact, Peter didn’t even have the confidence to own up to knowing Jesus in front of a servant girl and ended up denying him three times!
And then, almost a radically new Peter is seen in Acts 2. After being filled with the Holy Spirit, he was bold and confident enough to stand up to a multitude and testify about Jesus! Acts 4:31 says, “and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”
Yes, we are called to testify about Jesus, but we NEED the Holy Spirit, His power, and boldness to do so. Then no matter what, even if we have to lay down our lives for Christ, the Holy Spirit will give us the boldness and courage to stand for Him.
Prayer -
• God, fill us with your Holy Spirit
• Grant the church boldness to testify of the love and Good News of Jesus
Thanksgiving -
• Thank you, God, for giving us the help of the Holy Spirit
• Thank you for the opportunity to be your ambassador on earth!
