Declutter: Overhaul Your Heartಮಾದರಿ
BE HONEST
Are you overwhelmed by clutter? It can exist in all forms, physical and spiritual. If you’re feeling a little undone by the mess, maybe it’s time for some deep cleaning.
Clutter is just delayed decisions.
But take heart, friend! You don’t have to delay any longer. To tackle cleaning out your heart, let’s take it baby step by baby step. Start the decluttering process by being honest about where you are.
If you look around your house, are there drawers, pockets, closets, or perhaps whole rooms that need a little TLC? Sometimes physical clutter is a clue you need to deal with other places in your life. Chances are, if you have clutter in the physical, you have it in the spiritual. What’s going on in your heart? Does it match your physical surroundings?
We can get knocked off-kilter by loss, trauma, sickness, or other events. There is no shame in the clutter game. But we can’t clear it out until we know where we are starting.
That’s where honesty comes in.
The goal is to chuck out all the unforgiveness and pull up the overgrown roots of bitterness, envy, and resentment. But you can’t get to that until you take an honest inventory of where you are right now.
John 8:32 says, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. We can’t get to the roots if we lie to ourselves about how overgrown things have gotten. If your soul and emotions feel hopelessly tangled, if the clutter is too much, and you don’t even know where to begin shoveling the grossness out of your heart, don’t panic.
Pause.
Evaluate.
Catalog the contents of your heart.
Be honest with yourself.
God already knows, and he loves you no matter where you start.
Action plan: Tell the truth: where are you on a scale of 1-10 (1 being free and easy, 10 being your heart is crammed floor-to-ceiling full)?
Prayer: Father God, you know where I’m starting. Will you help me be honest with myself? Teach me to be patient with this process as we walk it out together. Thank you that I am never alone. Thank you for loving me despite my cluttered heart. I love you, and I’m grateful for your help in clearing out the mess. In Jesus’ name, amen.
