Praying Over Your Homeಮಾದರಿ
Your Master Bedroom
Our master bedroom is a special place in our home. It is the place that the foundation of I Corinthians 13 in our marriage began, as marriage helped us learn to be “patient and kind” and “not jealous, boastful, proud or rude.”
Over the years of our marriage, our current master bedroom is our sixth. As I look back, each one holds special memories. Our first was pretty sparse, with a discount house bed and open suitcases and boxes serving as side tables and a dresser. We loved it because it was ours. In our second, we made the decision to try to have children. There were the ups and downs that can come along with that process.
Our third master bedroom was where we first read through the Bible. That decision began to do some really good things in our marriage and in our lives. The next master was in the home we lived in for 32 years. It’s the bedroom our kids came to when they were scared or couldn't sleep. It is where our intimacy grew in so many positive ways. It contained the bed I cried on when my dad died. Lots of memories, and lots of ways to “help each other succeed,” as Ecclesiastes says, through those hard times. It is where we learned the importance of making God the center of our marriage day after day, as we grow together to be the “triple-braided cord” with God at the center.
Today we live in a home we built a few years ago. The master is open and bright. It’s where we have long conversations, pray together, and read the Bible together. Our bed serves many purposes, from close intimacy to a trampoline for our grandkids. Like most couples, we have spent a lot of time in our bedrooms. A lot of that is sleeping time, but we want a peaceful place to sleep. Our bedroom has been a refuge for the two of us. I think that’s what we all want.
Use this guide today as you pray over your master bedroom and invite God into that space.
- That you and your spouse would see your bedroom as a special place for the two of you.
- That your marriage will be a “cord of three strands”
- That both of you would get good, restful sleep each night.
- For good intimacy and connection in your marriage.
- For amazing sex and tender romance in your marriage.
- For protection from the worries of the world.
- That God’s presence would cover your bedroom.
