Resurrection Reflections: Three Ways to Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christಮಾದರಿ
Receive the Holy Spirit
The greatest gift Jesus made available through his resurrection is the Holy Spirit.
John 16:7 (AMP) says:
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
Before the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit came upon a few people, empowering them to prophecy and do the impossible (Judges 14:6; 1 Samuel 16:13; 1 Kings 18:46; Luke 2:25). After the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was given as a gift to help, comfort, and empower believers to live like Jesus (John 14:26; Romans 8:11-16) . God's powerful and gentle Spirit can now dwell in and rest upon anyone who believes in Jesus. You only need to receive the Holy Spirit as a gift from God.
Acts 19:2 & 5-6 (AMP) says:
He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed [in Jesus as the Christ]?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” After hearing this, they were baptized [again, this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in [unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesying.
Perhaps, you have not heard of this Holy Spirit before. You can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit right where you are. Perhaps, you have heard of this Holy Spirit, but you do not have a relationship with Him—you can begin to cultivate a relationship with him today.
Luke 11:13 (KJV) says:
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your Word says you will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask you. I ask for your Holy Spirit to dwell in me and come upon me in the name of Jesus.
