Discover Your True Worth With Lindsay Robertsಮಾದರಿ
We all have a place, our own place, which God Himself has destined as our spot and in which He desires for us to walk properly. Our goal is to be properly placed, not too far ahead or behind other people, but exactly where God has ordained our destiny. I have known countless women who have felt a strong call of God on their lives, yet struggled to embrace it for various reasons.
Maybe they were afraid of the changes that would be necessary in their lives if they did what God asked them to do. Perhaps their self-esteem would not allow them to move toward all God wanted for them. Perhaps their culture or tradition holds that women “cannot” function in certain ways. Maybe other people discouraged them or even bullied them. Yes, bullies exist in the church. They can be male or female, young or old. They are the ones who try to keep people out of their God-ordained place because they are jealous, because they feel threatened, because they don’t want to lose power or influence, or for other reasons.
Regardless of the factors that seek to keep us out of the places God has for us, we can do all we need to do to understand His call on our lives and to walk in it with all our hearts. This, I think, is what Deborah did. A female judge was uncommon, perhaps unheard of, in her day, so we can only imagine what people said to her or about her as she embraced God’s plan not only for her, but for all of Israel.
If a true believer, a person claiming to be a part of God’s family, were to study Deborah’s life, he or she would have to see that God Himself entrusted such power and authority to her and was very satisfied with the outcome of that decision. Now, if God hasn’t placed a person in a seat of authority, male or female, young or old, then it’s not a godly fit. But when God does place a person, any person, in authority, the fit is right. Every time.
Prayer
Father, thank You for creating me for a purpose and for allowing me to be a member of Your family. Please help me find strength in my identity as Your child, and please place me where You want me to be. Amen.
