Proverbs – Sayings Of Solomon

DAY 2 OF 13

The Fruit of Righteousness

Why does Solomon talk so much about righteousness in Proverbs 11? It is because God knows that righteousness is what will lead us on the path of fullest life. As our good Father, he desires our lives to be truly filled with life and blessing.

Consider this—wisdom is what teaches us how to make righteous choices. Righteousness is one of the fruits of wisdom.

Every Christian knows God calls us to be righteous, but many do not understand the role wisdom plays in enabling us to live righteously. This is why many children of God unfortunately look to rules and laws to teach them how to live, instead of allowing the Spirit of Adoption to grow within them until they look and live just like their Father.

This Spirit of Adoption is the Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of Wisdom. He dwells within us, freeing us from needing the outward restriction and restraint of rules, instead transforming our hearts into his likeness.

To be trained in wisdom is to be trained to follow Jesus’ example of life, and following Jesus’ example of life means living righteously—not because we pursued a written standard, but because we became intimate with wisdom from the heart, as children with a loving Father.

Our Father’s love—the deepest expression of righteousness—partners with wisdom to perfect us in both love and wisdom, leading to righteousness and blessing.

In what way do you want to be transformed into his likeness? Let your heart write a prayer to the Holy Spirit, asking him to fulfill that desire.

About this Plan

Proverbs – Sayings Of Solomon

Proverbs is the greatest book of wisdom ever written, mostly penned by the wisest man to ever live. God gave his servant Solomon this wisdom to pass along to us, his servants, who continue the ministry of Jesus, the embodiment of wisdom, until he returns in full glory. This 13–day reading plan, inspired by The Passion Translation Proverbs: Wisdom from Above, includes the sayings of Solomon from Proverbs 10-22.
