Day 2- Get to Stepping!
Most devices come equipped with apps and built-in tools that help with being able to track and count steps. I own an Apple Watch, and I love checking my stats at the end of the day to see how many steps I’ve taken. It shows me how much movement I am making in my day by displaying a calorie count. You see, movement is vital to staying in great physical shape. Conversely, spiritual movement is incredibly essential to the life of the believer.
Stagnation is defined as the state of not flowing or moving. I believe one of the major reasons believers struggle to see progress in their lives and their walks with God is because they have become stuck. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that feel hopeless and feel like dead ends. It feels like there is no way out, and all direction for life is nonexistent.
I believe the antidote for becoming unstuck is found right in the Word of God. Psalm 119:105 KJV says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” You see, the word guides your feet. It gives you instructions on how to begin to make progress towards your purpose.
I love what Paul writes in Philippians 3:13,14 MSG, “By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I am not turning back.” He urges us to do a few things here that are perfect instructions for how to get moving:
• FOCUS- Most runners keep their focus and maintain their stride because they fix their eyes on the finish line. This focus ensures they avoid being distracted by their opponents or people running alongside them. When moving in the right direction of purpose, it is important to have a laser focus on the Lord and the goal He has set before you.
• MOVE- Fear is crippling and the number one reason why people start moving but quickly stop. However, if you are ever going to get to the next level in your life, you must kick fear to the curb! I have never met anyone who could get from point A to B without physical movement. Traveling to destinations require forward movement and progression.
• FORGET THE PAST- Looking back turned Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt in Genesis 19:26. She was determined to hold on to what was when God was giving them a fresh start in a new place. There is nothing in the past for you! Running backward is impossible and requires an about-face. Why would you want to go back from where God has delivered you? Everything you want and desire is ahead of you; go get it!
