Finishing Well, Finishing Strongಮಾದರಿ
When God is not responsible
I laid much emphasis on trusting the Holy Spirit in our previous reading. Let me create a balance. God will not do for you what He has empowered you to do. Read that again. Do you know there was a time God scolded Moses for praying to him? Why? Because what was needed at that time was not prayer; it was action. Inaction is a force that has the potential of stopping the flow and the move of God.
“Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” Exodus 14:15.
Let me rephrase or stretch that sentence a bit. “Moses, this prayer is irresponsible and unnecessary, you know what to do, I know you love praying, but this is not the time. It's time to act. Tell the Israelites to move forward, stretch your rod and speak. Speak Moses, speak.”
Don’t make prayer an escape for your fear of taking action. Beloved, prayer without work is dead. If you work it, it will work. Prayer and fasting are not a substitute for action. To finish this year strong, make sure you’ve played your part because God will always be committed to his part. Apostle Paul said, run in such a way to get to the prize. A runner, whose eye is on the goal, is not concerned about the pace at which others are running. He’s focused on his own track.
What if you are just one action away from a totally different life, a change of level, a change of story, a new beginning? Stop putting it off. What are you afraid of? We are only born with two types of fear, the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling, all other fear holding you back are learned.
What is learned can be unlearned. Perhaps, you need to upgrade that software of your inner belief. It is time to overwrite that defeating narrative you keep telling yourself. It is time to flip the page. It is time to get out of your own way. It is time to stop selling yourself short. It is time to start taking action.
God will not stretch the rod for Moses. God will not speak to the people on Moses behalf. Men, God won’t speak to that lady for you. Stop winking in the dark. God won’t send your CV to that recruiter. God won’t write that book for you. God won’t produce that music you keep singing only to yourself. Don’t get me wrong, miracles do happen, but it is unwise to solely depend on them. The year is still young; until the clock strikes 12 midnight, it's not over yet. Take action and play your part.
