FIGHTಮಾದರಿ
1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV)
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Fight the good fight of faith
Situations or conversations may set the atmosphere up for unhealthy confrontation or fights. When tempted to engage in physical or verbal fights, let’s remember that the only fight we are encouraged to fight is the good fight of faith. What does that mean? The fight of faith is the fight not to lose our soul and the fight for the soul of others. Do you know that God is not pleased with us bursting out in anger and quarreling? Please read Galatians 5:19-21 and Ephesians 6:12.
James 1:21 (NLT) says, “So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.” We must not allow ourselves to get dragged down or back to our old nature where our flesh or emotions control us. As we prioritize time in the Word, we are empowered to fight the good fight of faith. We cannot respond with words and acts of grace if we make excuses for disobedience.
If we tell ourselves that we can’t help how we would react if/when treated wrongly, we imply that we are slaves to our emotions. The truth is that we have a choice, and we can be intentional with our responses. We are slaves to whatever controls or masters us (2 Peter 2:19). Anyone can burst out in anger and quarrel about issues. But, when we submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we lay aside strife, anger, and the need to prove we are right. We master our emotions by choosing to pursue peace with the help of the One who gives peace (John 14:27)
