OUR GOD IS ETERNAL
It’s not what you know that counts in the Christian faith, but Who!
This amazing letter from the Apostle John, was written to bring Confident Hope and the assurance of faith, to churches and disciples who were under attack in many areas; and especially around the veracity of their Faith.
The Apostle John concludes this letter with the reminder that the Hope of the Gospel is eternal and not temporal in nature. It reminds us of what Paul said about resurrection:
“If the only benefit of our hope in Christ is limited to this life on earth, we deserve to be pitied more than all others!
But the truth is, Christ is risen from the dead, as the firstfruit of a great resurrection harvest of those who have died.”
1 Corinthians 15:19-20 TPT
Such Confident Hope creates within us a boldness to both come to God - and to believe, that He is not only listening but Ready, Willing and More than Able to answer our deep needs and prayers.
And it gets better, because such a confidence and assurance brings about positive changes in our inner world of motives, and our outer world of actions.
What happens to the believer when we become assured of who God is and what He is like, and what He has done in giving us His Son?
It is transformative for us because our experience of grace causes us to hunger for more of God and His character to be formed within us. This ultimately becomes a Victorious Cycle of Grace upon Grace and transformation upon transformation. The more we become like Him, the more we want to become like Him. As John has said in Chapter 3 of this Letter:
“Beloved, we are God’s children right now; however, it is not yet apparent what we will become. But we do know that when it is finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is.”
1 John 3:2 TPT
Reflection:
Someone once said that “Imitation is the Highest form of Praise.”
Our worship defines us, as we tend to become like the thing we worship. What a promise…
Prayer:
God, today, show me what is to worship you like I'll be worshipping you in heaven. Impress upon me your heavenly perspective on my life. Thank you for your eternal Grace. YOU ARE LOVE!
