She Works His Way: 7 Gospel Truths for Working Womenಮಾದರಿ
Reflect for a moment on the goodness of God. He designs us uniquely and scatters us to diverse places, but He gives us a unified mission - the verses we read today:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19–20
And while this verse is most commonly used in the context of a short-term trip or full-time missionaries, this is not a short-term verse for one vocation; this is an everyday calling for all who follow Jesus.
The verb used here, translated go, is a present active participle in Greek. A participle is a verb that is functioning as an adjective, and the present active tense indicates a continuous action.
So rather than translating this go as an action verb, a more accurate translation would be as you are going.
So, read it this way: As you are going, make disciples of all nations... Jesus’ command here is to make disciples. He assumed that we would be going...
...to work.
...to your child’s school activities.
...to the gym.
...to church.
...to the grocery store and the mall, in your neighborhood or anywhere between.
As you are going . . . make disciples.
Making disciples is our main purpose wherever we go. It’s not the sidebar, an inconvenience, or an added bonus. It’s the point. It’s the priority. It’s the assumed reason God has us wherever we are.
In today’s working women terms, we can understand it like this:
The gospel is your job. Your career is your side hustle.
God, there’s no job or task that can satisfy me. Keep me running to Your presence, the only place where satisfaction is found. Replace all of my desires for what’s next with vision for Your mission where You have me now. Help me treat every moment with kingdom potential. As I go, open doors for me to make disciples. Use every inch of my influence for Your kingdom. The gospel can no longer be my side hustle, Lord. Make it the mission that my every effort flows from. Amen.

Work-life balance is often offered as the working woman's solution. But should it be? The pursuit of balance often results in an exhausted woman simultaneously striving to be who God says she is + who the world says she should be. The gospel offers a better way - His way.
