Booker T. Washington is quoted saying: "Associate yourself with people of good quality, for it is better to be alone than in bad company." This is great advice - but let's be honest, who likes to be alone? Have you ever found yourself not wanting to be alone? So you surround yourself with someone - anyone - even if they might not be the best influence on you?
If you want to become a better person, try surrounding yourself with encouraging people. The kinds of friends who make you laugh, and remind you to be true to yourself. God wants us to be invested in relationships with people who will challenge us, not make us feel comfortable with unhealthy habits. Choosing friends to make us better is not easy, but it is necessary for our growth. As you read the Bible passage, consider how we will only be challenged if we have encouraging friends.
What could you do, or who could you invite into your life, to help encourage you to encounter God?
