Break Trail

DAY 17 OF 30

Being torn between two friends is so tough, especially when you go to a new school or move to a new neighborhood. We love our old friends, the memories we share, and how we just "get" each other. But, something starts to change over time. We begin to grow apart, and the connection we had starts to get a little weak. We don't want to lose them, but we also don't want to lose the new friends we just made. Then it happens. Two groups of friends, our old friends and new friends, don't like each other. In fact, they start to hate each other. We know we're going to have to make a decision that's going to cause a ton of drama.

Before we commit our life to Jesus, our old friend is sin, and sin does not like to move on. Sin is the toxic friend we know we need to block, but we tend to unblock them from time to time. When we find it hard to move on, we can remember we can live a life for Jesus because he's alive in us.

Have you ever had to block someone? What needs to be "blocked" in your life?

About this Plan

Break Trail

If you're a hiker, you know a trail-breaker is someone who walks ahead, makes a new way, and invites others to follow. That's exactly what Jesus did for us. He broke a new trail with his birth, his life, his teachings, and then with his death and resurrection. In this 30-day devotional series designed for Lent, we’ll see how Jesus showed us a new way of living and knowing God.
