THINGS OF HEAVEN (Where We Come From) with Red Rocks Worship

DAY 1 OF 3

Day 1 – Declaring our Confidence

We inadvertently place our confidence in various things, from the certainty of the sun rising to the guarantee that Starbucks will be open. Maintaining our confidence in our walk with Christ is not always inherent; it often takes reiteration and a resolve. As we wait on the return of Christ, life will require us to navigate the tension between experience and expectancy. It is the fuel we need to be joyful in the face of confusion, whole amid brokenness, and encouraged in the waiting.

To be confident is to be peaceful—being able to exist in the certainty of what we know and believe to be true. To be confident is to be assured, to have placed one's trust in something steady, reliable, and worthy. We have confidence in our companionship with Christ, in the transformative nature of the Holy Spirit, and the resurrection power. Confidence stems from our sense of safety, our sense of being seen and known. Confidence inspires courage that extends beyond our reason or understanding. It emboldens us, fastens us, and fortifies us. It develops a godly grit, a tenacious trust, and a steadied sureness.

Our confidence is rooted in Christ; we have the luxury of resting our resolve in One who is worthy and able, the first fruit of many offspring, the seed from which we all bloom. Confidence bursts from us as effusive praise and extravagant worship. We have nothing to lose, for everything has been won.

Reflections:

o  Listen to the songs "Now Here" and "Something Has to Break." Is it hard for you to have confidence in God right now? What is a moment in your life where you have seen God's power on display?

o  Listen to the songs "I Will Trust" and "Never Leave." What do these songs provoke in you? What is the moment in your life where you felt safe in God's care even when things around you didn't make sense?

About this Plan

THINGS OF HEAVEN (Where We Come From) with Red Rocks Worship

Things of Heaven: Where We Come From was birthed out of the life of our church. Our primary aim is that these songs be used for corporate worship, but also, we hope that the themes which motivated us to write them are apparent. We have seen God’s faithfulness so we can be confident in our declarations, assured of our hope, and fixed on the person and the presence of Jesus.
