8 Ways to Love God More Than Moneyಮಾದರಿ
4. Plan to Give Spontaneously
We plan our spontaneous giving. Yes, I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but let me explain. We actually budget a set amount each month earmarked for blessing others as needs arise. We call this our “Seed” account. Consider creating one for yourself.
This Seed account enables us to live ready to give and ready to say “Yes” to what God calls us to do, instead of needing to say no or wait because we are financially unprepared.
This Seed account will shift you from “I hope I’ll have extra this month to give” to “I have money to give, Lord, where should I direct it?” I can’t even tell you how much more fun giving is when there is money sitting there ready to give. And what an adventure it takes us on when we are ready to say “Yes!” because God places things on our heart to give to because they are on His heart.
Spontaneous giving connects you to God’s heart in a unique and powerful way.
5. Increase Your Giving
Some of us already give 10% and others are struggling to give anything at all. Start where you are, then increase your giving from there. For us, we give a set percentage of our income and increase it 1% each year, but you ask the Lord what He would have you to do.
Growing in giving helps us overcome the love of money as we entrust more and more of our money into His hands because where our treasure is, there our heart is also. Our motivations to increase our giving aren’t legalistic, but rather they help us systematically ensure that we never become complacent.
