Generosity
Generosity is the act of giving or sharing with those in need. Many people think of money when they hear the word generosity. But it’s about so much more than money — it’s about using our time (the unscheduled minutes in our day), talent (our gifts and abilities), and treasure (money) wisely.
In 2018, a 9-year-old girl learned that it’s sometimes hard for people in Africa to get clean water. She decided she wanted to make a difference by joining a team to raise money for clean water.
She didn’t have much, but she had time, and she was also a good runner. She joined Team World Vision, a charity that works to provide clean water, and she used her talent for running to raise over 20,000 dollars to help African children get access to clean water.
It might seem impossible for us to do something like that, but generosity doesn’t have to be something BIG! Being generous can be as simple as baking cookies and taking them to a friend who had a bad day.
What are some ways you can use your time, talent, and treasure to help others? When we give generously it shows others respect, care, and kindness.
Ask yourself: When was the last time someone was generous toward you? How did it make you feel? How can you respect others by being generous with your time, talent, and treasure?
Challenge yourself: Commit 1 Timothy 6:18 to memory. This verse says, “Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always ready to share with others.”
Pray: God, thank You for giving me time, talents, and resources I can use to help those around me. Please help me to see their needs and help them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
During the second episode of “The Lost Tales: Volume 1,” Tutu and Twila have a conversation about being generous — check out this audio clip.

About this Plan
Respect is caring enough to consider how our words and actions impact others. In this four-day devotional, we’ll learn how we can respect God and those around us when we submit to authority, give generously, worship wholeheartedly, and tell others about Jesus. We will explore Bible stories and listen to clips from the eKidz family podcast, “Adventures Of The StarKeepers,” to help us apply these lessons to our lives.
