DAY 2 OF 3

The little crab only follows its parents

It is well known that crabs and small clams of the same breed walk in what children call a "sideways" walk.

At one point, the other fishes decided that they needed to teach these fellow walkers how to walk the right way, the locomotive way, which is to walk forward.

So they set up a Sunday school and gathered small crabs around them to teach them how to walk properly. By the end of the first day, some progress had been made, and they dismissed the students after they promised to come back the following Sunday.

Sunday came again, and the crabs were in their respective places, but it turned out that they were all walking sideways, as bad as they had been before.

A meeting of teachers was held to consider the best thing to do. The problem was quickly solved by an elder fish, who made the following short speech, “You see, brothers and sisters, that we can only control these crabs for a day. When they return home and witness their father & mother for the next six days, the influence of the example of wrong walking for six days is enough to destroy any good thing we can do to teach them to walk in the right way in one day.”

The greatest teacher is not experience; but an example.

Proverbs 6:20

"My son, keep your father’s command, and do not forsake the law of your mother.”

Reflection:

Your community and relationship will play a role in determining who you will be in the future. What you see, hear, and learn from your friends affects the way you act towards others. What kind of relationship do you have right now? The small community that you call family has a great influence on you in the future.
