THE LORD WILL GIVE US UNDERSTANDING
And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you the skill to understand." (Daniel 9:22)
God gave Daniel grace by showing him what would happen in the last days. At that time Daniel and the Israelites were in exile in Babylon. At that time people specifically studied the meanings of a dream. They even learned how to interpret a dream in a special school. They were called dream interpreters or astrologers. Daniel was also given a vision in his dream by the Lord, however, he did not ask anyone for guidance nor the astrologers at that time because Daniel understood that it was a dream from the Lord.
The time came when Daniel was given the understanding that his dream spoke of the end of time. God Himself gave Daniel an understanding of the meaning of his dream in detail. Nations would rise against nations, and rulers after rules would emerge in this world. However, in the end, God Himself will confront these rulers and establish His Kingdom. This understanding came from the Lord, and after gaining understanding from God, Daniel came to humble himself before the Lord and offered a prayer of supplication. Daniel was trembling even more before the Lord and in his prayers, he did not only pray for himself but also other people and his nation.
We should also be like Daniel. When God gives us a statement or a revelation that we don't understand, or when God allows us to experience a situation whose reason we don't understand that we do not know what to do, at that time, we should not be busy looking around for other people and asking why. We need to be like Daniel and Mary who sit at the feet of the Lord and wait for Him through our prayers. The Lord Himself will give us understanding through the power of the Holy Spirit.
If God is in charge of our lives, then He will never let us become confused and find our way out. We might not understand it, but if we remain in the truth, we will get the understanding at God's appointed time. The Bible says that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. We don't have to ask the reason why something happens to us. Just believe in Him. He is the Lord who provides, gives us victory, and lifts us.
Sometimes a child does not understand the meaning of his parent's message, but one day he will understand it.
