eKidz Devotional: All About Choices

DAY 3 OF 5

Honesty Leads To Trust

You might have heard of the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” This story is about a young shepherd boy who repeatedly tricks nearby villagers into believing that a wolf is trying to attack the sheep.

Because of his repeated lies, when the wolf actually does appear, the villagers do not believe the boy’s cries for help, and the flock gets destroyed.

This story helps us see the importance of honesty and truth. As a follower of Jesus, we should choose to tell the truth in all situations. When we lie, one consequence is that people lose trust in us.

And speaking of truth — we’ve all lied at least once before. Maybe it was just a little lie to make life easier — to avoid punishment or exaggerating the truth to get attention. Telling the truth can be hard because we might fear the outcome. But we can trust that God will give us strength in all situations to be truthful.

While we all will mess up from time to time, we can trust God’s forgiveness will get us back on track.

Honesty is always what’s best, and it leads to trust!

Ask yourself: Why is it important to be honest with others? Can you think of a time when you were dishonest with someone? How did your dishonesty affect your relationship with that person?

Challenge yourself: Choose to be honest in every situation. When you tell the truth, you honor God and the people around you.

Pray: God, thank You for loving me no matter what! Help me to be honest in every situation, even when it’s hard. In Jesus’ name, amen.

During this episode of “Super Nova Standoff,” the StarKeepers show the value of honesty.
