Victory in Hard Times - Living In Victory When People Hurt You
"And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth."
- Colossians 3:2 AMPC
Your focus matters. What you think about regularly affects your actions. It also affects your perspective; it will change how you see things. Most importantly, it will change how you see and treat people.
When we are in a disagreement with someone, often all we see are their faults, mistakes, and what they did to us. Some of the things done are 100% wrong! Some things have happened in your past that cannot be excused by any standard. But you can learn from God Himself!
"We aren't fighting against human enemies but against rulers, authorities, forces of cosmic darkness, and spiritual powers of evil in the heavens."
- Ephesians 6:12 CEB
Hurting people hurt other people. I have heard this phrase over and over again. Unfortunately, I have been on both sides of this statement – the person hurt and the person causing pain. We are imperfect people, but our imperfections come from the flesh, the un-renewed mind, and the enemy himself.
When you are dealing with people, continue to focus on God and "the higher things" more than you focus on the person that hurt you and "the things that are on earth." God has the answer for how to respond to the pain. He has insight into the person who hurt you that you simply don't have.
"When you focus on God more than people, you will focus on how God wants you to respond to people."
- Devon Daniel
God's ways are higher than your ways, and His thoughts are higher than your thoughts. This is true, but you must remember that you have a relationship with your Heavenly Father. He wants to share those ways and thoughts with you. He doesn't want to keep it to Himself. He wants His children to walk in wisdom, understanding, and LOVE.
See people through the eyes of God. When you do, it will be easier to show people love, mercy, and understanding, even when they have done you wrong.

Confession Today
"I will choose to look for the best in people. My real fight is not with people but against the devil and his kingdom. I will focus on how God wants me to respond rather than how I feel like responding. I HAVE THE VICTORY IN EVERY TRIAL!"
Scripture
About this Plan
We all experience hard times in life. But just because these times happen to us, it doesn't mean that we are automatically defeated. To live in victory, you will have trials to overcome. So, let's learn how to overcome them. To do this, you must know who you are, know what to say, and that victory is on the other side. Devon Daniel, Executive Pastor at Believer's Victory Church
