DAY 2 OF 3

THE FREEDOM IN THE LORD

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves.  (1 Peter 2:16 NIV)

Christ has given us freedom from the condemnation of sin. His great love saves us from destruction; however, this world which is ruled by the work of darkness, still wants to draw us into it.

What do we do with the freedom that Christ has given us? When we become believers and are baptized, it does not mean that we are immune to sin. Remember, we are still human beings who have fleshly desires that arise from our thoughts. God gave Adam and Eve free will. However, they abused that free will.

The devil uses every means available in this world to make people fall into sin. We have eyes, mouths, ears, and a body that can sense the deeds of the world. All of those things are in front of us right now. Once we try any sin the devil will bind us. Once we are bound, we will lose the peace and joy of the Lord. We will miss God’s given freedom.

The freedom in the Lord is freedom from slavery to sin. It is freedom from unfavorable ways of life, freedom from our rebellion. As free people, we have been given the power to overcome the tricks of the devil and the world. We should appreciate Christ’s given freedom.

Once free, remain free. Use freedom from the Lord wisely.
