The Discovery: Exploring God’s Call On Your Life

DAY 4 OF 35

“The Call: How did I get here?”

No matter how much we might want to, we cannot divide the calling of Jesus Christ into smaller pieces, picking and choosing which parts we will commit to. Salvation, discipleship, and ministry are intricately intertwined and dependent upon one another.

We exist to bring God glory. In order to bring God glory through service and ministry, we must constantly become more like Christ through discipleship. In order to become more like Christ through discipleship, we must be justified through salvation. You see, through Jesus and for Jesus, we received salvation and discipleship so that God can accomplish His purposes in the world through us!

God has indeed called you to ministry. He called you to ministry when Jesus called you to Himself, and it was part of His plan for you before He ever created you (Psalm 139; Jeremiah 1:5). Your journey toward ministry did not begin the day you chose to surrender to it. It began the day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Through discipleship, you have now discovered part of your purpose! What an exciting time in your life!

Respond to the following in your journal:

Think of your personal spiritual journey to this point. What clues can you see now that prove God has been leading you to this point all along?

What did you learn through Bible study today?

How were you encouraged? How were you challenged?

About this Plan

The Discovery: Exploring God’s Call On Your Life

Welcome! We are so excited that you want to explore God’s unique plan for your life. Remember, ultimately, the goal of this reading plan is not to figure out what your future job might be, but to hear from God about what it means to be called, so make sure to give it your best effort! Enjoy the journey! Here are just a few tips as you jump in: • Come prepared mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. • Shut out all distractions. • Start with prayer. Keep communication between you and God open and easy by confessing any unconfessed sin, accepting His forgiveness, and asking Him to speak to your heart through Bible study. • Take your time. Read all of the verses listed, listen for God’s voice. You may want to write in a journal as you go so you can track your spiritual progress and remember what God says to you.
