90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for Womenಮಾದರಿ
Confession. When you hear that word, what do you think about? Sitting in a booth actually making a confession to a priest? Admitting to a crime? Admitting you're guilty?
If you look at one meaning of the word confession, you will find it means to acknowledge, admit, or allow. When we talk about our sexual sin, we already know what we struggle with. We are all too familiar with what we have done in our past, we may have even moved on to being ready to surrender, but when it comes to confessing, we hesitate. One meaning of the word says to admit reluctantly.
The way we choose to confess happens in many different forms and ways, but it all starts inside us with our decision to acknowledge and admit. Then we take that and make it known. Out loud. We speak the words and break that barrier of silence that has been erected for far too long. For some of you, this silence could be decades long. You may have never uttered the words out loud before. But confession is acknowledging, admitting, and allowing the truth to be made known.
Confessing aloud with our mouths, to us, God and others, shines the light into the darkness of our souls. Think of our sinful struggle as that closet in our heart that we keep the door closed on and just allow the rest to be seen. Confession throws open that hidden door and allows the light to penetrate the darkness.
What feelings come to mind when you hear the word confess? Guilt? Shame? Fear? Examine your feelings and do an honest inventory about what is keeping you from confessing to others.
