Good Overcomes

DAY 3 OF 5

Whatever burdens you are carrying in your life, know that you inherently possess the power to rise above them. In the water, your body instinctively wants to find air. Lose the things that are keeping you below water and allow yourself to surface. Allow yourself the freedom of breathing again—that’s what keeps you alive. The weight of anger, resentment, and regret only weigh down the person still carrying them; in other words, holding on to resentment doesn’t hurt anyone but you. Let those burdens go and let your soul rise above. . . .

Whatever challenges you may be facing in your own life, chances are there are burdens you carry along with them. I encourage you to look honestly at the things holding you back—old grudges, blame, or resentment—and decide if they are worth it. Is holding on to anger worth the toll it takes on your soul? Is throwing in the towel because of a disappointing call that didn’t go your way worth the shot at your dreams? Whether you are faced with forgiving people for their actions or deciding to press forward beyond an upsetting situation, the choice is yours to either sink into bitterness or rise above. Only one of those options offers any real change; only one of them takes you to the freedom of the surface. When we choose to rise above, we are the ones who come out on top, who find freedom, who emerge stronger and more resilient.
