Light and Darknessಮಾದರಿ
A light to our path
In Psalm 119, king David says in various images and phrasings that God’s Word is great! In verse 105, he compares it to a light and a lamp. If we are walking in the dark, we need a light to find the right way and to avoid stumbling. Likewise, we need God’s Word to shed light on the way we should go in life, and to give us counsel and guidance.
In Psalm 32:8, God promises: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you”. The most important source of this godly instruction is the Bible. It teaches us so much about God’s will for humans. It helps us see the world around us for what it really is. It helps us discern what is in our hearts. Even the apostle Paul, who was a religious expert, says: ‘If it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”’ (Romans 7:7). Our minds are darkened by sin, and we need God’s Word to enlighten us.

About this Plan
Immediately in the first chapter of the Bible, we read how God created light. And further on in the Bible, light is often used as a metaphor for God’s domain as opposed to the domain of sin and death. Jesus even calls Himself “the Light of the world”. Light and darkness thus have an important place in the Bible. This reading plan presents a selection of verses about this topic.
