DAY 3 OF 3

THE LORD IS OUR DEFENDER

All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him? Psalms 35:10.

The name Nahum in Hebrew means comforter. Nahum wrote the messages he received from the Lord when the people of Judah were under the control of Syria (which included Nineveh that was cruel to them). Amid this terrifying situation, Nahum came to the Lord as a representative of God’s people to tell Him about their situation. Nahum relayed messages that strengthened the hearts of His people and awakened them to believe God will deliver them.

Everyone experiences struggles. Problems arise unexpectedly. Sometimes we meet people who do not like us and try to intimidate us. The Lord Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and those who hate or do evil to us. He teaches us to repay good for evil, to bless, and pray for those who cheat us.

He teaches us to live in love and surrender all our worries to Him. For this world, this may be foolishness because it believes in reciprocating to have a breakeven point, but God does not want us to do that. If we have cried out to God for His help, then surely He will give us the strength to survive in that situation, and the Holy Spirit will help us to love and bless others.

The Lord sent a message through Nahum to His people that He would come to defend them and deal with the Syrians and Nineveh. We have to believe that God will deal with everyone who wrongs us. God is our defender. He is a just God, and He is never late to help us.

We can go through anything because the Lord is always there for us.
