SAME CALLING, DIFFERENT CONFIDENCE
Insecurity is a profound sense of self-doubt - a deep feeling of uncertainty abour our basic worth and our place in the world. Often, we assume that the solution is to get better at self-belief and convince ourselves that we're not as bad as we feel. The truth is, the only solution to our insecurity is to get a deeper understanding of the God who created you because your worth is found in Him. In Psalms 57 the author writes, "My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!" When you read about Moses, you see that he dealt with insecurity as well - after God meets him in a powerful way and calls him to one of the most incredible purposes a man could have, Moses answers by asking why God would want to choose him. He clearly communicates his lack of belief in himself and lists all his insecurities. But God had other plans for him and we know that he went on to change the world & history as we know it, fulfilling the plans that God had for him.
Moses had to learn that God's Words for him far outweighed the words of the Hebrews who would've hated him and the Egyptians who would potentially ignore him.
Eventually we need to find greater weight in God's Words for us and believe that He's chosen us and chosen to love us, despite what others have said or done. Maybe you've felt like Moses in the passage you're about to read - we can probably all relate. But take this opportunity to see what God did with Moses, despite his insecurities!
Practical Steps: Read this passage about Moses and consider the times you've felt exactly how Moses feels, and then look at God's response to Moses and begin to read that over your own life.
About this Plan
A famous mixed martial arts fighter, Ronda Rousey, popularized this phrase, 'Bout That Life, in 2015 at the height of her career. She explained that many people want the glory of success, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get there. This Bible Plan looks at the lives of a few Biblical characters who were definitely 'Bout That Life: willing to do whatever it took to follow God. God's calling has remained the same through centuries: the question is, what will our response be?
