Every Child Deserves a Family: Praying for Orphansಮಾದರಿ
Esther,* a single mother, became increasingly concerned about the health of one of her daughters. After being connected to Children of the Promise in Haiti, staff determined that her daughter was malnourished. Additionally, Esther was battling her own health problems and needed a short hospital stay. This family was in a crisis that could have easily led to the long-term separation between this loving mother and child. Without the option of providing treatment for her daughter’s malnourishment at home, the organization helped admit Esther’s daughter into the short-term malnutrition program, while Esther received the medical care she needed. The mother and daughter were quickly reunited after Esther’s recovery. Thanks to this support she received, Esther and her family were empowered to keep the child at home and out of residential care.
As Christians, we need to support families and communities to ensure children like Esther’s can remain in families. We need to come together with other churches and trusted organizations as partners, united in our mission. We can share the benefits of family-based care with our friends, family, and others, helping change their perspective and make a shift in the way they serve orphans and vulnerable children. God wants us to care for orphans and vulnerable children in a way that’s best for their health and well-being.

PRAY
Dear God, Help us to be your church—to listen and learn as we walk with you. Creator and Counselor, I pray that you will guide our efforts in supporting the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children everywhere by strengthening their families and communities.
I lift up local congregations and organizations already involved in this work. May they reflect your goodness as they love and support their neighbors and provide hope and home to children. I pray that as followers of Christ, we will work together in harmony to reveal your kingdom here on earth, for the sake of your precious children. Amen.
About this Plan

These short devotions will give you insights from Scripture, along with suggestions for prayer. Our hope is that this will serve as a helpful resource as you support the movement of seeing children in the care of safe, loving families.
