Faith-Lift

DAY 4 OF 7

Wisdom and Faith

The Eternal's law is perfect, turning lives around. His words are reliable and true, instilling wisdom to open minds. (Psalm 19:7, Voice)

Of all of the treasures in God’s Kingdom, wisdom must be the most highly prized. Solomon asked for it and was rewarded in ways beyond his imagination. In the Hebrew Bible, the word wisdom is mentioned 222 times. So, what is wisdom and why is it so valued by God?

There are countless definitions for wisdom, but remarkably the Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Clearly the matter of wisdom is not one that God’s people should take lightly. Wisdom is having the innate ability to make sound decisions on matters relating to life and conduct. For believers, it is living according to the instructions God has blessed us with in His Word.

The Book of Proverbs abounds with principles for right living and making God-aligned choices. Otherwise we run the risk of being numbered among the foolish.

Gaining understanding illuminates and makes known to you what you need for daily living. Understanding is gained by listening, learning, asking questions, meditating, and thinking through an idea, a process, or a concept. Understanding is applying practical wisdom to a situation or task. What are you facing in your life right now that you need to inquire of the Lord for deeper understanding before you make a decision? This strategy could be the faith-lift you require.

Embroider my life with Your ability, God, that I may have insight and understanding before I decide on a matter.
