Everyday Life in Revelation: Part 1 the Christ

DAY 1 OF 4

I am attracted to this book . . . not because I hope to unlock secret knowledge about future happenings. Nor is it to decipher the identity of the antichrist or what the false prophet could look like. Instead, I find myself leaning in and reading Revelation often because we have a clear-cut promise from God.

For those reading and applying the truths from Revelation to their everyday life, God makes a clear promise to His people. What is that promise? A blessing. What is the blessing? Now that is a matter of speculation.

But what the heck, we’re friends. So I can give you my opinion. I believe the blessing the Lord promises to those who take in this message is not secret knowledge or power. It is not a hidden message that only a select few get to own. Rather, I believe the promised blessing is a confidence and comfort knowing that the One who gave the message to John is in control.

Despite all the chaos and upheaval that is in Revelation, that world is not under the dominion of Satan or the antichrist. No, that world and the world that John lived in were both under God’s reign—under His control.

The message for us is to take comfort and be at peace. For our world, as crazy as it is it's not rolling along in chaos with no order and subject to no one. No our world is under the leadership of our God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We can rest in comfort today. No mater what is facing us or the church, God is in control.

Everyday Life in Revelation: Part 1 the Christ

The book of Revelation is not only to be thought of as a blue print for the future. It spoke to the church in John's day. It spoke to the church in Martin Luther's day. And it speaks to the church in our day! Revelation has a message and a meaning not just for tomorrow, but for everyday.
