Influencer: Finding Truths in the Trendsಮಾದರಿ
Day 3: The Ultimate Role Model
As Christians, we take our cues from the Word of God. In it, we see the patriarchs and matriarchs of the faith who faced similar pressures; some dealt with the familiar temptation to give in to the idols of the day; others battled in the tug-of-war between the flesh and righteousness. We see specific examples like David, who fell but was later restored to a place of leadership and influence. Then there's Job, considered blameless, but not exempt from real human experiences packed with anger, pain, and disappointment.
These individuals show us how to navigate our humanity while in pursuit of Godly impact. Though they serve as good examples, the ultimate influencer is Jesus Himself, who showed us how to use our voice, reach, and abilities to proclaim a transformative experience with a righteous God. Through His life, we find two influencer strategies that should serve as a blueprint:
1. Choose a posture of humility before others
In business, influencer marketing is powerful because of its implied hierarchy. It says that the most popular, beautiful, and gifted people are somehow more impactful than others, and as such, their followers should do whatever they say. Brands pay a lot of money for this kind of power. When we look at Jesus's example on earth, we see the opposite. In John 13:1-17, rather than insist on a hierarchy, Jesus humbles Himself to wash His disciples' feet. If He can demonstrate the height of humility in service to others, how much more us?
2. Maintain a posture of humility before God
The trends would have us believe that we are all gods of a sort. By the standards of the culture, we do not have to answer to anyone, and being self-seeking is the only way to be. Again, Christ's example tells us otherwise. Even as the most recognizable influencer known to man, He did not think that being equal with God was something to be used for His benefit.
When we consider Christ's humility before others and God, it is clear that being a Godly influencer will require courage to be different. As we strive to model purpose-driven impact, may we be humble but courageous enough to maintain that standard.

About this Plan
What does it mean to be a Godly influencer? We live in a society where performance and optics are more valuable than character and depth. Thankfully, God called, qualified, and justified us without us having to perform for Him. Join MCWEN Founder Andrena Sawyer in a 3-day study designed for those who would like to be free from the performance trap to make a genuine Christ-centered impact in the world.
