Walk on Waterಮಾದರಿ
I’d rather slip walking on water than spend my life wondering “what if”
Nobody wants to read a story about a person who never went through anything. The stories that inspire us, stand the test of time, and get passed down from generation to generation are about the people who took daring chances, overcame extraordinary obstacles, and weathered unimaginable storms. You wouldn’t pay to watch a movie about a character who played it safe until they died. It’s not what box office hits are made of and if you’re honest — no matter how cautious you are — it’s not what your dreams are made of either.
There’s a dream God’s put inside of you and He didn’t give you that dream to keep you sitting on the bench. He didn’t breathe life into you so you could spend your life hiding and holding your breath.
In Matthew 14 we read about Jesus’ disciples hopping in a boat and then getting caught in a storm. The Bible says they were over a mile from land, where they were being battered by the waves with the wind against them.
Maybe you’re reading this and that resonates with you because you’re in the middle of something and no matter how hard you try, you can’t make it to the other side because the wind is against you.
Forget pursuing a dream, you’re just trying to survive the storm. But what if the storm is the very element God is using to strengthen both your faith and your story? Just like you weren’t created to sit on the bench, the disciples weren’t meant to stay in the boat.
When Jesus walked out to them on the water (casual), Peter was the one to take a chance. He said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come.”
And Jesus took him literally. He didn’t give him a plan or instructions. He gave him one word.
“Come.”
And that’s all Peter needed to get off the bench and into the game.
Every other disciple missed the once-in-a-lifetime chance to defy the laws of buoyancy that night. Don’t settle for witnessing a miracle when you’ve got the opportunity to be a part of one.
Ask the Lord today to give you a word and then dare to listen over the sound of the wind and the waves.
Maybe your word is come. Maybe it’s apologize or forgive. Maybe it’s give. Whatever it is — step out on it this week.
