1&2 Timothy: Priorities & Principles In Leadershipಮಾದರಿ
Godliness is Not Rules and Regulations!
Many non-believers do not want to become Christians because they perceive Christianity as a hindrance to their progress and enjoyment of life. They are put off by the dreaded long list of dos and don’ts they think every Christian must follow in his daily life. They want to be free to do what they like instead of having to submit to rules and regulations. But a godly life is not a life governed by a man-made list.
Godliness in Christ is a mystery because it is based on believing in the finished work of Christ when He came and died for us. It is not by our own good works lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
In the latter times, people will be deceived by demons working through false teachers. They will love self above God. They will use others to get what they want. Such predators, often disguised as Bible teachers, will even be found in churches and Christian circles. They will demand that their followers do not marry or must abstain from certain foods.
Everything God has created is good and is to be enjoyed with thanksgiving. The prohibitions only apply to that which harms us. We are thus free to enjoy life to its fullest in Christ. Let us give thanks to the Lord, enjoy His good gifts and live the abundant life promised to us is Christ (John 10:10).
Pray that we will live such joyful abundant lives that non-believers will be attracted to Christ.

About this Plan
These readings from Scripture Union Peninsular Malaysia are written from the thoughts and insights of Asian writers. Paul lays down the priorities and principles of leadership in the church, and for dealing with practical matters in church life. He emphasises the personal life and example of the leader, not methods or techniques, with himself as the role-model.
