In My Boat: Trusting God in the Midst of the Storm ಮಾದರಿ
Fixing our Eyes on Him
Making life choices, most times, depends on the people in our circle of influence. They subconsciously rub off on the decisions we make, and sometimes, how we turn out. So the question is, “Who are you looking to? And who is in your circle of influence?“ These people inspire a certain level of trust and confidence that draws us to them. We respect their views and opinions and value their counsel.
This was also the story of Mr. Simon Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples. I often wonder how he was the only one to ask Jesus to invite him to walk on water. Didn’t the other disciples trust Jesus enough to also make this request? I don’t know about this but we see Peter display a certain level of trust in his Master which enabled him do the impossible —walk on water.
He was very certain that as long as he could fix his eyes on Jesus he had no cause to worry. He was confident in Jesus as his anchorman, able to calm the storm and to save him when it started to rage.
Isn’t it comforting to know that we have Jesus in our boat, that He is a constant and reliable part in our life’s journey, ever-present, even in the storm? All we have to do is look to Him, paying no attention to the raging storm of men’s loud voices. Looking to Him we are guaranteed that nothing can hold or pull us down. Though we may be surrounded by negative voices, or nasty experiences littering every stretch of our journey, looking to Him will keep us steady and secure.
Prayer
Dear Father God,
I look to You at all times through this journey of life. I know it will be hard sometimes but having You in my boat is everything to me.
In Jesus‘ Name,
Amen
