We live much of our lives on autopilot. This can be helpful as it saves mental energy. However, in order to do this we unconsciously programme our brain to notice solely our preconceived notions of what is important. Learning to be attentive to our bodies, our breathing, our emotions, and the present moment are all prerequisites to being available for a genuine encounter with God and with others.
