Praying Through Psalms of Praise with Hillsong Creativeಮಾದರಿ
After you have completed today’s reading from the Bible, we encourage you to set aside a moment to listen along to the audio guide provided as we pray and allow God to speak to us through His word.
This Psalm focuses on praise because of the good things God has done. It lists many ways that God has proved and is proving His faithfulness to His people. Take a moment and thank God for times that He has proved Himself faithful to you.
In the society we live in, we can be so focussed on ourselves and forget the many ways that God has proved Himself faithful through His creation and through the generations that have preceded us. In verse 19 God is praised because “He has revealed His word to Jacob.” Have you considered the impact that God’s faithfulness to the heroes of the Old Testament and His very creation has on you today? Thank God that His faithfulness through the generations is extended to you now, that you are invited into His incredible story.
This Psalm focuses on praise through music and singing saying in verse 1, “How good it is to sing praises to our God!” Singing is a God-given instrument by which we praise! You may consider yourself to be a great singer or perhaps you may reserve your singing for the shower. Regardless of how uncomfortable this may be, I encourage you now, as this Psalm says in verse 7 to “Sing to the Lord with grateful praise.” For the next minute, sing your own words and your own melody along with the music you’re hearing now. Praise God in singing!
Don’t stop, keep singing a little bit longer.
How good is it to Praise the Lord! Maybe later today or throughout your week you could put on your favourite worship song and do the same thing. Sing your own words and your own melody, your own praise from the deepest part of your soul overflowing in thanks for the good things God has done.
