Let the World See You: How to Be Real in a World Full of Fakes

DAY 5 OF 5

God is love. And love never ends. God loves us so much that he sacrificed his own son, Jesus, so we could be close to him. So he could make his home within us. So his peace could reign in our minds and in our hearts forever. There’s an intimacy that God deeply desires with us, his greatest creation. He wants us to seek after him in the good times and the bad times. He wants us to know him, know his love, and know his son. Get to know Jesus.

When you get to know Jesus, you get to experience love. And not just any kind of love, but a never-ending love. A love that lasts a lifetime and then some. What I gather from Galatians 4:9 is that to know God is to be known by God. It’s similar to what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:12, “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known” (esv).

It seems to me that to get to know God fully, we need to allow ourselves to be fully known by God. And because I am confident God already knows us fully, to get to know God is to come to the understanding that God already knows us, even when we hide. That truth is what I experienced at every turn, in every chapter. He is a God who already knows. He knows your quirks, your disabilities, your inefficiencies. He made them! And he is sufficient even when you’re not. If you don’t believe me, consider Psalm 139. God formed our parts and put us together in the womb. We have all been fearfully and wonderfully made. And he has mapped out every day of our life.

Get to know Jesus. Better yet, allow Jesus to get to know you. Your deficiencies, your faults, your fears, your failures. And then share them with the world.
