Multiplying Your Life

DAY 7 OF 8

Description

Many books have been written on financial stewardship from a Christian perspective. They pretty much all agree that God uses His people to fund His purposes. Another basic truth we can all agree on is that when you are willing to give, you are going to get asked . . . a lot. We want to explore together a framework for deciding where and how to invest in Kingdom Ventures. As we develop a plan for making an impact in our community one thing becomes obvious. If we are going to try and solve a problem together, we are going to own the solution, and the funding as well. One definition of a leader is “one who knows what to do next, knows why that’s important, and is able to bring the appropriate resources to the task at hand.” That is where we come in.

Financing the Kingdom

If you and a couple of friends were suddenly given $10,000 to spend on investing in a Kingdom Venture, how would you decide to spend it? When you give money, how do you make the decision? What do you think is the difference between spending your life and investing your life? We also have a Biblical mandate to invest our L.I.F.E. (Leadership, Influence, Finances, Expertise) beyond our community. Remember Acts 1:8 says: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Read the Scripture passages below as though you were reading them for the first time. What do you hear the Lord saying? Does it raise any questions in your mind? Is there any insight or observation that you never thought about before? According to 1 Timothy 6:17, what should our perspective be? In Luke 14:28-32, Jesus counsels to “count the cost." Why is it important to count the cost before undertaking a Kingdom Venture? How do we count the cost? Notice that in each illustration Jesus has the person going into the details of what needs to be put in place.
