There's Hope For Todayಮಾದರಿ
If, indeed, some things are best forgotten, how shall we discriminate between what to keep and what to throw away? Here are a few touchstones along the way.
We should forget anything that God has forgotten. His promise to “remember our sins no more” is one of the crown jewels of grace. Holding ourselves captive to forgiven sin is sheer folly. We should forget anything that centers on self. Paul summed up his former life of personal ambition and achievement with a pungent word: dung.
We should forget the sins of others against us. Jesus said that if we would not forgive our brothers, then the Father would not forgive us. We should forget whatever the past held of sorrow and wrong. Most of our regretting is wasted emotion. We should forget our finest moment to make room for something better. When we settle in around our successes, we rob ourselves of the new frontier.
Paul admonished the church to make the most of every opportunity. When we can’t let go, we make a mess of every opportunity.
