She Prays: Prayer for Battling Fearಮಾದರಿ
The If-Then’s of Extinguishing Fear
Are you tired of believing you’re the one with the blaring fear problem? Is it the elephant that lands in any room in which you grace your presence? Listen up. It’s not just you. The fear factor is a grossly common phenomenon. Frankly, we need help. Help that will last. It’s time to learn to use the Word of God in our battle against fear and put it to work in our prayers.
Most definitely, you are not the only one to struggle with fear. Otherwise, God would have no reason to tell his people NOT to be afraid in some form or fashion arguably 365 times, across Scripture, or enough to remind us every single day of the year. Even David struggled with being afraid, but he didn’t allow his fear to defeat him. What did he know that you and I need to grasp in our battle against fear?
The LORD is my light and my salvation;
From the outset, David makes clear the One running the show makes all the difference. For him, it was God. God, alone, leads, and directs. He’s not just a light. He’s THE LIGHT. As a believer in Christ, this means you hold the advantage, not the impasse you can’t see beyond.
Therefore, like David, you can dauntlessly ask, “whom shall I fear?”
The question becomes redundant. If God is The Light in your Life, concerned about your life from before time began to this moment, guiding every step, then you should be able to trust Him to navigate the scary situation. There is no one greater.
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
David is not communicating here that God makes him strong, but God is THE STRENGTH of his life. Without God, he’s got nothing. All the power and capabilities come from Him.
If such strength originates from the God of the universe, making Him over 100% capable of dealing with any diabolicalness, like David, then you have no cause to worry.
You can confidently proclaim, “of whom shall I be afraid?”
Have you settled for God being a light and some extra strength when you need a hand? Or is He THE LIGHT and THE STRENGTH of your life that can extinguish fear?
A first step for battling fear in your life is embracing this if-then relationship, declaring who God is in your life as you pray.
