Overcoming Spiritual Amnesia

DAY 1 OF 4

Day 1: Count Your Blessings — Remember the Gospel

God doesn’t need anything from us. It is given in Acts 17:25. God is not “Served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breathe and everything else.”

There is nothing we can give God that He hasn’t already given us.

We can count everything we experience today as a blessing  because we don’t have to bear the burden  of our brokenness - alone that is. God gave us the greatest blessing: Jesus!

Think with me for a moment. Life gets tough.
We live in a fallen world where people and things are not functioning the way God intended.

This world isn't just broken, it's terribly broken.

Life here is really hard, and there’s hardly any grace.

No matter what anyone says.

We all face all kinds of difficulties, big and small.

People will disappoint you.

They will lash out and hurt you right after you lean in and help them

My prayer is that you'd never forget that God created you on purpose for a purpose.
Don't complain about the pain, but consider it pure joy.

It's easy to forget our greatest blessing: By God's grace He sent Jesus to rescue us, forgive us, without complaint, willingly He died for us: Not only that, He died to be with you.

Remembering what Jesus did for us—meditating on His perfect life, atoning death, and powerful resurrection—puts our lives in eternal perspective. Without Christ, we would be eternally lost—but because of Christ, our lives are purposed to glorify Him, our future is secure, and a living relationship with God is our reality!

Let’s pray this over us.
Heavenly Father, help us to find joy in the trials. Realign our focus with what you have for us. Teach us, oh God, how to count our blessings even when we are at war within ourselves.
